My boyfriend loves the chips here so decided to return to try them again today. Firstly, the woman serving him puts too much salt on chips to begin with, and when the person served before him asked for extra salt, the employee poured extra salt on the entire batch, not just his chips. They are so so salty they are inedible for me. Secondly he found ANOTHERHAIR. I don’t know how so many hairs can get in the food? Is somebody brushing their hair into the chips?! Seriously. He’s just thrown the rest of the chips out because he’s so disgusted. Would not recommend eating here, unless you enjoy hair in your food.

Everyone raves about the chips in this place, and I really have nothing to add to that. They are really REALLY good. Why? I don’t know why, it’s hard to say. This is a nice big chicken shop that I’ve visited on a few occasions, normally after a trip to the bird place next door. The problem is, being on Main North Rd, it’s tricky to get to if you’re coming from the north. You have to drive past, turn around and come back. It’s worth it though! It’s a big store with a big menu with a lot of the standard chicken shop options, but done much better than their contemporaries. The salads are as amazing as the chips and if you haven’t tried the curry tomato chicken pasta then you haven’t lived! Their hotdog variations are also interesting, and while I haven’t tried one yet, it’s on the cards for a future visit.

Their hand cut chips are all the rage at the moment, and with a good cause. Without a doubt the best chips I have ever tried, and I encourage everyone from Adelaide to go out of their way to get them. Their Wingdings, beer battered prawn cutlets, and chickie nuggies also whisk me away to happy places, and I have been known to buy up big, come home, watch Stephen King movies and rub grease all over myself(Try and stop me). When I’m not purchasing their delicious chicken and seafood packs, I always take advantage of the free parking — Thanks Chicken Chef!

Give me a bag of hot chips and a couple of pieces of buttered bread and most of the time you have one happy camper. There is however one thing that can really mess up this fair tale picture… crap chips! Finding a chicken shop that has good chips is harder these days, but one that continuously delivers the good stuff is Chicken Chef on Main North Road. I have heard many a story of people braving the dreaded peak hour traffic to get their beloved Chicken Chef Chips, and there is good reason. Coming standard with Chicken Salt there is a good mix of long, short and those really sweet crispy ones that are full of oily goodness! While you are there check out their menu of non-chip food type substances. Personally I quite like the hotdogs and I never say no to the odd Pinapple Fritter either! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go and get my Chip on!
