I’ve been to Shanikas in Berwick countless times over many years & seriously this restaurant NEVER disappoints! On Monday my husband & I made a last minute decision to go out for a nice dinner. We walked into Shanikas thinking we may have to go somewhere else as we didn’t have a booking & they are always busy. But lucky for us the staff were more than happy to find us a table despite our not having a reservation. As always the staff were friendly & attentive without being stifling. They cleared empty plates quickly with little interruption & our water glasses were always full. Now on to the food… We ordered a garlic bread to share as soon as we sat down as I was starving(being pregnant & not having eaten since lunch will have that effect) & I was very happy when it arrived quickly. We followed that with the Lemon Myrtle Calamari, which not only was super flavoursome but it was so soft it seriously cut like a hot knife through butter. My hubby enjoyed his Chicken & Chardonnay Scaloppine and my Marco Pollo was divine! The gnocchi were like perfect pillow of softness. Melt in your mouth soft & they certainly don’t skimp on the cream sauce. Plenty of sauce on the plate to justify ordering a second serve of the garlic bread to really enjoy every last drop of said sauce. (I love pasta! No seriously I mean I loooooove it!!! If I could eat only pasta for the rest of my life(without the side effect of becoming the size of a house) I’d be quite happy. Especially if the pasta is the same caliber of that what is served at Shanikas.) After all that yummy food we weren’t able to fit in any desserts but on previous occasions where I have indulged(more so that all the carbs I consumed at this sitting) I found that the desserts were just as good as the entrees & mains. This is a restaurant that we will visit over & over again without hesitation!

The pasta is freshly made and the service is impeccable. Shanikas is a family favourite and a local treat. I recommend the seafood pasta as it is delicious and I would pair it with one of the Pinot Noirs on selection. The wine menu is diverse and the waiters are knowledgeable. Great service, fresh and simple italian cuisine.

Every time we go to Shanikas we feel like we r the only people there. The food is always the best. Shanikas is by far the most professional restaurant in Berwick. Great food great experience.

I ordered«Chilli Beef– $ 19:00» from their takeaway menu. The staff were really really fast and proficient with their customer service and after the twenty minutes time that I was given for the order to be picked up when I arrived it was ready to be picked up in a really nice takeaway package and everything went smoothly. However, the Chilli Beef that I had though had fresh ingredients in a very large quantity was too sweet and the sauce was so overdone and sweet that I was searching the for some rice that were not mixed with the sauce but there was a very large quantity of the chilli sauce and I was out of luck. The restaurant was so packed with customer(as is any good restaurant) when I went there and I will be back to try the other items from the menu and hopefully better see the reason all those people seems to be going there.

Catching up with Mum, we wanted to go out for Dinner. This was a place she had wanted to try, but had never got around to it. I called at 4pm to see if I could book in to 6pm. No problem but table was needed back for an 8pm booking. Always happy when they tell you this upfront. We got there a little bit early and received a friendly greeting. Sitting down, water was quickly placed on the table and we were given the menus. So much to choose from. Soon after we gave our order. For me, I wanted something that wasn’t on the menu but is easy enough. Their policy is they cook to order so anything you want, ask and they will try to do. So for me, it was natural oysters with tobasco. They were fresh and delicious. After a nice little break, our mains arrived. For me the Tornado which was beef, mushrooms & pâté. Beef was medium rare(as ordered) and the flavours were delicious. As we were finishing our meals, they came across with a free strawberry dacquari. They had accidently made one and rather than throw it out, they looked around and gave it to Mum. Loving dacquari’s she was pleased to get it. Tables are close together and they were very busy, but not noisy. Lots of families. Leaving well before the 8pm mark, we throughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back when next across.

Attentive and polite staff. You can tell they enjoy working there. The food I ordered was awesome. Restaurant space is limited and it can feel a little claustrophobic. Best bet is to sit outside so you can participate in a conversation without yelling.

Shanika’s would have to be one of, if not the best place to eat in Berwick(they also have a second restaurant in Pakenham which I’m yet to try). The food is always of a high standard and there is something for all tastes. The staff are extremely friendly and will got the extra mile to make you happy. I once had a waiter walk over to a supermarket to by a specific bread for me! The food hasn’t changed much over the years, a few menu changes here and there and daily specials, but the prices have jumped. Still, for a restaurant in the ‘burbs’ Shanika’s is definitely a pick.

Shanika’s in Berwick has been one of my favourite places to go for years now, for just about any occasion, so its only fitting that they receive my first review. Whether you’re after a 3 course meal or a cheeky dessert, Shanika’s do it well. The staff are always helpful and polite and the food is ALWAYS good. Meal sizes are very generous, but not at the expense of taste. Fresh produce, expertly crafted and a fantastic team that genuinely want your experience to be a great one means Shanika’s will not disappoint.

This place is one of those instant five stars. Shanikas just hits every note perfectly– great, GREAT food, impeccable service, reasonable prices, fun atmosphere and huge serving sizes. Add to that a wine list filled with local offerings, wait staff who know your name and remember your order(even if it changes often) and you have got the recipe for a great dining out experience. The menu basically hasn’t changed for ten years and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I have been eating the same dish– ravioli ricotta– for most of that time and every time it is spot on. It is hard to get a table here though no matter what day of the week it is, so make sure you book plenty of days in advance. The other awesome things about this place is that they will happily make you virtually anything off-menu, so if you have a favourite or special dietary requirements, you can guarantee they will look after you.
