Normally Ambrosia is a hidden delight. Tonight however, it was not up to scratch. The waiters were amazing, but the food was well below par. Over cooked steak, rare becomes medium well, mushroom sauce magically turns into jus. And well, the sides were lacking, although fresh, a few greens and carrots with a blob of mash were not what was expected. The waiters/waitresses were most helpful and my meal was removed from the bill. The service may have given this restaurant a second chance.

Even though this restaurant is a short 30 second walk away from my house, it has been over two years since we have been here. The service was great, the food was great(a tad pricey though nothing to completely whinge about), however there is this X factor that seems to be missing from here. When leaving we both looked at each other knowing that we wouldn’t come back for another year or so, as strange as that may sound knowing the food & service is good. Is it because we live so close??? Hmmmz that doesn’t really affect other local places that we go to. I would recommend for anyone to visit. Food is good and the menu somewhat extensive, however I don’t know what it is that won’t let me go back in the next 6 months.

Just had our first dinner with our young family last night, and it was great. The boys thought their kids meals tasted good(they polished their plates), while our pizza and pasta dishes were scrumptious. Service was very attentive and the prices very reasonable.

I’ve eaten both lunch and dinner at Ambrosia several times over the past few years, and even attended a couple of private functions. Had dinner with the hubby at Ambrosia earlier this week and again they did not disappoint. Ambrosia is a bit of a surprise in the middle of a housing estate. Come around the corner and you find several little shops, restaurants, a 24hr gym and even a little convenience store with Ambrosia in the middle. Even mid-week this restaurant is busy, but not so busy that you are left wondering where on earth your meal is. We were seated quickly in the upstairs dining area.(This is the area that was used when we attended private birthday parties). Both our meals were lovely and I highly recommend the oven baked paella! Yum! The service(as always) was friendly and attentive, and we will certainly be going back to Ambrosia again and again!

I’ve only been there for a drink, but loved the set up. Sat out on the very cool balcony with a bit of a view, and got excellent service! Will definitely be back…

Another great dinner, this time with kids in tow. Sundried tomato chili pesto rigatoni for me, tandoori chicken pizza for husband and mini burger for little lady. As always great service.

Considering the extraordinarily high turnover of staff in the hospitality industry, it is a good sign when the same staff have been at a restaurant for 8+ years. That is how long I have been coming here and every time has been a good experience, largely thanks to the same core group of staff who know what they are doing and consistently do it well. I’m a big fan of Ambrosia’s caesar salad and the menu is a spot-on mix of gourmet inspired meals and cheap and cheerful pub fare. They have a great range of tap and bottle beers and the wine list is extensive, with something for every price point. The cakes and deserts are all made fresh and the coffee is usually good, although it can be a bit of a wait if the bar staff are under the pump. This place is tucked away in an unexpected location in the middle of a housing estate, but it’s no average suburban café. Good service+good value for money=happy me.
