West End Hotel

We’d worked up a bit of a thirst after walking from the Balmain ferry up into Rozelle on our way to dinner near Victoria Road, and the sight of the West End’s beer garden was a welcome one as we strolled down Wortley Street.
It’s typical neighborhood pub, with cold drafts, TVs, and a pool table. In and of itself, nothing really outstanding. But make your way out the back door to the beer garden, where you’ll find tables and chairs scattered about a pretty good-​sized yard. A couple of dogs greeted us as we made our way out with our pints, and were making the rounds of the tables for a scratch on the head throughout the evening, while the relative quiet of the neighborhood was a nice change of pace from the downtown watering holes where we’d spent most of the week leading up to our Friday excursion to the west.
If we hadn’t been running a little late for dinner, I’m sure we would have stuck around for a few more beers outside. Like the surrounding neighborhood, it was a nice alternative to the noise and crowds of the CBD.
