Made

It’s closed. Don’t bother. Just never hit the mark in the competitive Balmain space. Was only open for around 3 months. Not sure how the administrators can remove it to save people rocking up

Woohoo! Stoked I get to be the first reviewer for Made and give them a well-​deserved 5 stars!
Went here today for breakfast with the bf with Eggs Benny on my mind. Our flatmate had recommended Made based on their smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and avocado on toast brekkie dish.
Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to the only available table. The ambiance made you feel like you were in a friend’s kitchen or dining room; it felt homey and comfortable.
Bf ordered a large flat white and I got the fresh squeezed o.j. Both were great; my o.j. had just a few ice cubes in it, which I appreciate since I think too much ice waters down a drink.
Our breakfasts came out lightning fast. Here’s the breakdown:
Mine– perfectly poached, bright-​orange-​yolked eggs atop a veritable pile of glazed leg ham and a thick slice of crusty sourdough absolutely smothered in a more-​than-​generous lashing of hollandaise. Some people don’t like loads of hollandaise, but I am not one of those people. Whats better than hollandaise? MORE hollandaise!
My only (small) thing i could fault them with was that there didn’t seem to be enough bread to mop up all the yummy yolk and luscious hollandaise. Plus, in my opinion, crusty bread is not the best vehicle for eggs Benny, since the crusts are hard to cut. But overall, a truly smashing Eggs Benny, probably the best I’ve had in Sydney so far. That’s right I said it!
Bf’s breakfast: I’m not one for smoked salmon but I had to try the scrambled eggs. I’m not joking when I say those eggs might possibly be THE BEST scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten, which is a HUGE call. Soft set but still cooked through piping hot, buttery, creamy and just spectacular. They must be made with some combo of cream and butter mixed in, which suits my fat ass fine. Hats off to the chef for turning scrambled eggs into a 5-​star meal!
I also had a sneaky peek of other patrons’ plates, as one does. There were some salads coming out that just looked fab, beautifully presented on wooden boards. I will be coming back to try them.
Upon leaving (our bill was $ 42, standard for a Balmain breakfast) the friendly waitress and barista chatted to me about my plans for the day and how my weekend had been, which I thought was sweet and a rarity in Sydney.
All in all, my experience this morning at Made helped lessen the raging hangover from the previous night’s jungle themed pub crawl with their cozy atmosphere, friendly service and above all outstanding food. Well done Made!
