Found this great little café on Unilocal while in Ballarat for a few days. Great vibe, fun décor and tasty food. Braised kangaroo was delicious and the Cajun po boy was good too — tho I’d have liked more of a kick. Shared some yummy warmed carrot cake for dessert. I’m good to go for the rest of the day!

Very excited to see a ‘new’(2 year old) café in the oldest building in Ballarat, open during Easter, and with an aim to ‘use fresh ingredients sourced from local producers from the region in all our foods’ — yes! The café has a friendly hipster feel, and welcomes everyone. They had the record player going when we arrived(had to stop myself from singing along to Simon & Garfunkel), and although the tables were full we were accommodated on the couches with Unicorn pillow pets and waiter service. It’s a really comfortable café, and with craft beer, ciders and wine available you could see yourself spending long afternoons there when the Victorian snow winds arrive. We started with their locally roasted coffees and hot chocolates(all great quality) and moved onto thick, generous toasted sandwiches and spiced sweet potato chips. All delicious. They do breakfast and lunch everyday, and can be booked for group functions at night. They also have a kids menu, and wheel chair access. My pick of the spots for an informal get out of the cold and grab a meal in Ballarat!
