For Service, Trips, and Training, PDA is the best Dive Shop pair (Balcatta and Hillarys) in Perth, hands down!
Their equipment services and expertise is second to none around here, and their training programs are solid. But the real star of the show are their boat trips (particularly out to Rottnest).
They run the Lionfish IV out of north Freo, and it has to be the best equipped dive boat in the area, and has the best trained and most professional staff of any boat I’ve stepped aboard (which has been a few)!
A typical trip on the Lionfish IV includes a light breakfast, morning dive, lunch, an afternoon dive, and a snack on the way back in. Being a larger vessel, the trips across are smooth as butter even on storm days! The skippers are both keen on knowing what people are after — if folks are going after crayfish, they are more than accommodating with getting you on the bugs! Otherwise, their encyclopaedic knowledge of Rotto’s dive sites seems to ensure that every dive is a good one!
A couple other bonuses about the boat: They have a dinghy for if you get taken in those fabulous Rotto currents, and they’re fully equipped with everything short of a deco chamber for just about any dive emergency.
Protip: Get the multidiver packs, as they give you quite the discount on trips when you buy a 5 pack (~30%)!
