Overly expensive, especially for the mediocre Frappes at around $ 8.50ea(found the hard way they use«essence» instead of real coconut which leaves their Bounty frappé tasting completely artificial). My husband and I have been burnt one too many times by this palace with excessive wait times on small take away items such as our half hour wait on a take away English breakfast tea(they kindly left us the teabag) and a frappé with no cream(which came with cream after half hour then they just scraped majority of it off the top when I re-advised them of my original order instead of making a fresh one). Wouldn’t waste my time or money again.

Food servers were Huge the food nicely presented on plate My husband steak tender and good portion size he also commented sauce complemented steak. Both of us enjoyed our meals I have to say staff more attentive service was quick prices still reasonable it’s been few months since been I’ve there the menu has change a lot more to choose from for me it’s still one my favorites in Ellenbrook.

I have really tried hard to support local business but bad service is bad service and eventually people just won’t go back. The menu is ambitious but lots of great sounding choices — pity most of it is pretty average fare when it comes out. I had the chicken parmigiana. I am an unabashed fan of the good ol’ parmie so forgive me if I’m wrong but doesn’t it normally come with a layer of ham? Mecca’s interpretation is an ok piece of chicken slathered in spag sauce with about ½ teaspoon of cheese sprinkled on top, accompanied by the world’s smallest side salad and about 6 chips. Not good enough, but at the end of the day your stomach is full enough(is this why you go out and pay for a meal??) But what really lets this place down is the pretty woeful service. I have been in several times now at different times of the day and night and each and every time I have been treated like a mild inconvenience. Tonight, the waitress was bored at best and hostile just beneath the surface. She delivered our meal without fanfare and that was the last we heard of her. No offer of another drink, coffee, dessert etc. We literally sat in the place for an hour or more with nothing in front of us and nothing offered to us. Then my pet hate — the obvious, noisy and RUDE pack up. There were still several groups sitting chatting(and probably would have happily had drinks, desserts, coffees etc if offered) but tables and chairs were stacked, change was clanged as it was counted, everything from outside was dragged noisily inside to the point where it was difficult to get out. We felt very unwelcome. If your door says«open til late», how has that translated to 9pm? If you want to close at 9, fine, but put it on your door or come around and offer us all dessert and warn us politely you are closing at 9. I can’t see this place lasting with these philosophies and practices, which is such a shame as the place looks great and I can see people are really trying to support local business. Perhaps they will pick up their game when their much more professional rivals, The Travel Café, next door start serving dinner. I know where I’ll be going.

If you look on Facebook, you’ll find many Ellenbrook locals who consider Mecca Gourmet to be the greatest place ever. I’ve been there three times now — twice for breakfast, once for lunch — and I can’t see what all the fuss is about. Breakfast has been disappointing both times, and I wouldn’t bother again. The sweet potato«rosti» I had on my first visit was about as far from a rosti as you can get. I tried the gnocchi for lunch, which looked like it had been made by hand but was heavy with an unexciting sauce. Most of the meals arrive drizzled with balsamic glaze, if that tells you anything(check the photos if you don’t believe me…) They do a selection of decadent sounding frappes. I tried the Tim Tam caramel popcorn, but once I got through the top layer the actual drink was rather weak. It would have been much better as a milkshake rather than being diluted with ice. The coffee is okay but nothing special, however there always seems to be great looking desserts in the counter fridge. If I do go back, I’ll be sticking to the sweet stuff.

Went here a few weeks back. Great food and atmosphere, the service was lacking though. Twice brought the wrong orders and it took a very long time, about half an hour, for our food to arrive once ordered. I think I’ll let this place mature a bit before we head back.

This new lil café in Aveley is divine! They do coffee and cake, lunch and also dinner. The atmosphere is cool but relaxed, I love the way its fitted out and the food is delicious. While I didn’t try lunch myself, my friends who have were unanimous with their thumbs up. I had slice and coffee which was delish! My only 2 «down» sides are that it’s a little squishy with all the seating but hey they have to make the most of the space they have right? And my 2nd would be grabbing a takeaway coffee isn’t the fastest option but if you have time to wait then do grab a coffee. :)
