I’ve been here many times and Home has always offered consistent good food, service and coffee. Thank you!

After a well earned breakfast pass(south bank run) it was redeemed at the Home store and Café. The service was prompt and cheerful and as a result our drinks were on the table within a few minutes. This was soon followed by our brekky options, with your truly selecting avocado bruschetta and scrambled eggs. All the big flavour hits worked in unison with textural crunch from the toast finishing it off. All in all, a solid breakfast option and well worth a return visit. Food 8⁄10 service 8⁄10 décor 7.5÷10

The inly reason we have gone to this café is because it had a small, albeit dirty hovel or a children’s ply area. It’s kind of a goldfish bowl type spot that is only good in the cooler months. The food here always disappoints. The window of salads is dismal, unappetising and while appears fresh, lacks style, appearance and flavour. The menu is normal but it’s still pretty average. The coffee, well it’s typical Brisbane coffee. Weak, milky and poorly extracted. The floor is disgusting. Seriously I think they must just sweep this place once a day and that’s it. It’s red in colour but almost black with grime and dirt buildup. And not from walked in mud, I’m talking built up heavy black grim that needs to be scrubbed. Not mopped or swept. It’s a lot of work but when you’re running a good serving business people don’t want to look at grim. Like the food in the window it’s unappetising. I refuse to give business to places that just don’t measure up. And this is one of them. I won’t return until I see a change here or I’m forced to by occasion.

From the fruit toast with figs, apricots, sultanas and walnuts with lashings of butter to the savoury mince with chorizo and hidden baby spinach leaves, poached eggs and turkish bread — I love it. The food makes me smile with delight. Perfect for weekday breakfast take aways or Sunday brunches with friends.

Not at all impressed. Poor service. Disappointing food. Thought I would stop in at this place as when I drive by it is always busy. I have no idea why after my experience. There was a wait for a table — which is fine. Once seated however no menus were immediately provided instead we had to wait 15 mins for someone to notice us and give us the menu. We then didn’t realize we had to order at the counter so a further wait. Also sitting outside added to the lack of service as staff barely came past. Once we ordered… It took approximately 45 mins for my meal to come. By this time my coffee had gone cold and my daughter had finished her banana bread. The meal — I ordered the avocado with poached eggs. I can appreciate that it looked appealing however the taste was extremely disappointing. There were too many flavours happening particularly the marmalade which was served, which did not taste good or flow with the avocado, toast, feta, egg and tomato combination. Also I felt the toast was extremely doughy. Overall extremely disappointed and not sure why this place attracts the crowds particularly considering the other places that are available in Brisbane.

Coffee is excellent. I experienced average service here about 5 – 6 years + never returned until now. I still don’t rate the vibe. Maybe I’m not posh enough.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. Very popular with Ashgrove locals and is often full. Lunch menu is excellent and good quality fresh food.

Three words: Potato… Hash… Cakes Ohmyglob! This place is excellent, it’s probably my new favourite brunch hangout. They have seriously delicious food and great coffee. There’s a little homewares/fashion store attached, so you can leave your husband to play with his phone while you browse like a lady boss.

The houseproud suburb of Ashgrove, with its high concentration of families and stay at home parents who like to brunch(notice I’m staying gender-non-specific here), is the perfect place for such a coffee&cake/cookbooks&crafts business. I’ve been here once and managed to pick up a cook book for a birthday present and took advantage of the opportunity to grab a coffee and a croissant at the same time. The food and drink were top notch and the service appropriately homely as well. I’d definitely go back to try their bigger meals, which looked tantalising from where I was sitting.

Brunch(sumptuous coffee included) + deriving inspiration for redecorating my home = one perfect Friday morning. Walking along Stewart Road in Ashgrove, there is a shop which combines two of my favourite things — home wares and brunch. Home Store & Café initially enticed me with their extended breakfast menu(it runs until 11.30am for all you leisurely morning risers) and their brioche French toast. Oh. My. Gosh. Devine. Sandwiched between two crispy macadamia-crusted pieces of toast is a refreshing blend of mango and vanilla-infused mascarpone, drizzled with a zingy lychee syrup. Pretty sensational start to the day(well, afternoon), I’d say. Down to the home decorating — whilst enjoying your breakfast(they serve lunch from 11.30 as well) you can marvel at the beautiful ornaments, lamps, rugs and cushions(and probably leave with several under your arm as well!) You’ll be calling this place Home in no time.
