Every so often the call of Chilli Chicken Rice beckons me to the Hans down the road from work. Friendly is fast and service and it’s usually within 10 minutes of placing an order(generally faster) that a generous serving of my favourite dish arrives. Décor is fairly simple, but everything is clean and you can be in and out in a quick turnaround. I think the food is tasty and they do good spring rolls — usually very hot, which can be a bother when you try to munch into them too quickly :)

Back in my student days, my wife and I’s idea of a romantic dinner was to head down to Han’s in Fremantle and binge on spring rolls, garlic chicken and Goundrey Unwooded(back when it tasted uncannily like it was wooded). Being as though the Freo Han’s is long gone, we sometimes head here to pick up some nostalgic grub. It’s cheap, but the food is pretty good and there’s just something about the way they do spring rolls that drives us crazy. The Han’s wine list is crap, so we drink beer or spirits now. Service here is a step above what I’ve experienced in other Han’s Café’s, they really go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and I appreciate that. All that being said, the slightly more authentic Thai Corner across the road is only marginally more expensive than this place, so if you’re looking for something a touch classier, head over there. Otherwise, this is a great place to eat relatively inexpensively.
