Loong Wah has been in Alex Hills ever since my family moved here when I was 4. My family are regulars there and have been friends with the owners — a friendly Chinese couple who sometimes cook the food themselves — for over 20 years. I have eaten a lot of fried rice in my life and Loong Wah’s is the best, only second to fried rice that I actually ate in China. Their dim sims are HUGE, and Mongolian lamb and lemon chicken are pretty good. But I could happy eat nothing but their fried rice for a whole meal.

Not a big fan of this place as we have now been there 3 time and there was a big fluctuation with the turn out of the food. So what’s that 3 strikes and their out. First time we are like no onion and we got home and the food was amazing and the fried rice to die for, the 2nd time we asked for no onion and what’s that we got home and there is onion and for someone who is married to a person witch is highly allergic to onion(eg they can die) asking for no onion is for a reason. The 3rd time was ok, we had to be a lot more careful when picking and ordering our food but we gave them another go. I must say that the food was not as enjoyable the 3rd time around. They do have a sit down area in side the shop and I believe it is byo.

Loong Wah is a lovely little Chinese restaurant, with all you would expect. The gold dragons, red chairs, warm if slightly tacky interior… I am probably not painting a very attractive picture. It is actually a lovely little restaurant, but I prefer take away. The menu is your typical Chinese takeaway menu with many of the favourites you would expect like sweet and sour chicken, combination omelette, black bean pork and steamed rice plus a few tasty extras like spare ribs with chilli sour sauce. The staff always have a smile. It’s not fine dining, but then again that is not what I look for in my Chinese takeaway really is it? Fast service, good food and that’s good enough for me.
