staff are very friendly and helpful, especially with plant selection, they have a good range of plants and gardening accessories. They also have a fantastic range of homewares. Reasonably priced also. Staff are very attentive and know their stuff!

I have picked out a few nice plants and pots for my apartment balcony from Garden of Eden over the past year and have not been disappointed in the quality of the product. I have found their service to be quite good — they are very knowledgable and have answered my many questions ranging from pest management to indoor plant care. They have even helped me arrange some succulent pots and volunteered to pot them(but where’s the fun in getting your own hands dirty). Sure the prices are a bit higher than you might pay at a larger garden center but it’s a convenient location, it’s nice to support a local store, and the quality of plants are very good.

Truth, some of the stuff is just ridiculously priced. That said, what IS there isn’t common and it’s not supposed to be. If you’re an avid gardener and want beautiful plants with a chance of surviving, you’ll likely find it here. If you want specialty/niche pots and ideas, they’ll likely have a smattering. For your garden-variety(ha!) plant fan, it’s likely going to feel expensive and I’m sure you could find a place that has all of the plastic containers and cheap terra cotta pots to your heart’s desire.

When you walk into a business and you feel like you are not welcomed to be there, well, you probably should be there and you most certainly should not support the business by spending your money with them. From the moment I walked in, looking for help, not getting any assistance, being looked right over, walked right past, especially from the guy behind the counter with the pony-tail. I could say a lot more negative things, but I will say, they have some very nice items, and some beautiful plants. They just need to work on their customer service.

Sadly, I have to seriously downgrade Garden of Eden Nursery after our(truncated) second visit there this afternoon. Let me just say before I start my tirade that this is one very beautiful nursery, with serious prices to match!(For example, small, metal, brightly-colored side stools were $ 120 a piece; a bamboo/wrought-iron side chair was $ 389; a small-sized terrarium containing a maidenhair fern, $ 130; small frangipani plants were $ 80; Japanese maples were going for well-over $ 250; floor runners were $ 350; small mats were $ 80; etc…) I suppose the prices are inline for the upwardly mobile neighborhood that surrounds this urban oasis. And the plants and doo-dads are, indeed, quite beautiful and charming. I mean, the bottomline(beyond prices) depends on how much you love something, and how much you’re wiling to splurge. Ultimately, I suppose, everything is relative. That said, the line is drawn when customer service sucks to high heavens! The last time we were there, that maidenhair terrarium(with the marked-up price) was something we couldn’t get out of our mind. So we ran over there today with the plan on doing some serious spending to whip our new apartment into the holiday mood with some plants and such. Unfortunately, the staff on hand couldn’t have been any more disinterested or unhelpful. At least two staff members walked right by us without even an iota of acknowledgment. No, «Let me know if we can be of any assistance»… No, «Please let me know if you have any questions»… These folks blatantly snubbed us! I mean, even if you’re busy with other customers, it only takes a few seconds to acknowledge someone. It was evident that they had absolutely no interest in assisting us. Apparently they have their niche of hoity-toity clientele and couldn’t be bothered with prospective new customers. It was obvious to us that the old«success breeds indifference» ideology was on full display at this Garden.(We are firm believers in supporting neighborhood establishments. These folks made us feel very UN-welcomed to the neighborhood.) Needless to say, we were out of there tout-de-suite after that appalling snub.(We then ran over to a wonderful plant and flower boutique on Chapel Street in Windsor, where we spent a good amount on a couple of beautiful terrariums from folks that gave us customer service that made it well-worth patronizing their shop!!!) Today’s visit at the Garden of Eden was truly one of the worst experiences of discrimination we’ve encountered. That said, we prefer not sponsoring a garden overrun by snakes…

After an unsuccessful mission the south Melbourne market and then Bunnings, I stumbled across Garden of Eden Nursery. I’d always seen it, driving past, I’d just never ventured in… I was searching for some herbs to make a small gift for a friend. Deanna was simply amazing — she was very helpful — showing me the different sort of planters I could use and the helped me decide which herbs would look best planted next to each other and which ones would be appropriate to plant together. I was expecting to have to go home and get my hands dirty, planting them myself, but she took the herbs to a little table inside, used organic potting mix and did her magic. She then asked, seeing as it was a present whether I would like it gift wrapped. Amazing!!! The entire store is a cute little boutique nursery, with plenty of little nicknacks, home wears, moisturizers and gifts. It was such a lovely space to walked into and i was completely satisfied with the customer service i received(plus it was very reasonably priced — maybe even cheaper than south Melbourne market… and certainly cheaper than Bunnings. Oh, and they don’t spray their herbs, whereas Bunnings do!) It was a pleasure coming into your nursery and I’ll most certainly be back next time!
