We all know what to expect at Soundwave. Music played by people with instruments, and a lack of «dance» music. Everyone knows what to expect and what they like. Subjective music tastes aside, Soundwave is a really good music festival. There is always a huge range of food available. From the fattiest greasiest mess, to the healthiest salad, to vegan and vegetarian specialties. They also have massive merchandise tents and free sunscreen for all to use. Water is everywhere, as is shade and toilets!

Ahh Soundwave, my favourite yearly festival. All you rockers out there are going to froth at the lineups this baby pulls. This year some of the big acts include System of a Down, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, A Day to Remember, Lamb of God, The Used, Lostprophets, and the list goes on. I have been to three of these so far and although it’s a very long day, it’s entirely worth it. There’s a great mix of rock, alternative, punk, and metal to please a huge crowd of fans in central Bonython Park. Transport is easy, with a free tram heading right in front of the place from the city. Tips! The line up to get in is always huge, and I’m talking around a park block and down a long road huge. So be prepared for a bit of a wait if you go early. It’s always super hot and sunny so dress appropriately and slip, slop, slap even if you feel like a dork. The only let down to this park is the dirty ground, twigs up your bum wherever you sit, and few shady areas. I’m bringing a picnic rug this year so I can sit down in comfort, I always envy the people who prepare and bring fold up chairs and such, so this year it’s on! Oh and please take note to the dirt part. Don’t wear your best gear. The people here often like running around in huge circles kicking up the dirt so expect it to get into every nook and crevice. There’s a pretty good selection of food and drink, plus there is alcohol available, but as al festivals go, it’s not cheap. I also wouldn’t bother drinking in the heat, it never ends well. Soundwave is usually on around the start of March every year, always bringing a huge mix of bands and and even bigger crowd. So get your tickets and I’ll see you there.

Is heavy metal your forte? Love a bit of head banging? Then be sure to check out the annual Soundwave Festival held at Bonython Park. It’s incredible. With a massive line up of huge artists from around the world, it’s definitely worth saving up the cash to head to this head banging, rock and roll haven. It’s a very popular event and there’s always a good time to be had. Make sure when you see the time guide, you plan out which bands you want to see and when you’re going to have your toilet breaks!(That’s if you’re able to break away from the many awesome stages)
