Something must have seriously gone wrong since the last reviews were done, because my experience with these guys was nothing short of disgraceful. The«Mexican food» looked and tasted like something from a UN food drop, but with a price tag. Honestly, I struggle to comprehend how anyone could accept this as Mexican — and Id like to know if the reviewers — or indeed the«cooks» have actually been to Mexico?

Came across this cute little café on my way to a job interview — was quite early so thought I would stop in for a snack. It appears to be a sandwich bar with a selection of salads, cakes and pastries. I got myself a slice of their lemon cake which at $ 4.50 I thought was a tad pricey, but these days that’s what most places tend to charge. The cake itself was definitely baked either that day or late the previous day; it was fresh and soft: and lemon was actually in the cake itself, not just the icing! Which was also soft, I hate dry cakes with hard icing and this didn’t have either, bonus! It was also a pretty thick slice. You can also order ahead and come pick up your order if you are in a rush. The staff are absolutely lovely; so polite and accommodating. The seating is simple, glass tables and plastic seats, not uncomfortable but I always inwardly stress that I might scratch a glass table! It’s a lovely place and apparently the coffee is really good; they also do milkshakes which don’t appear to be on the menu. I hear a man ordering a lime milkshake; may have to come back and try it…

This is a nice place to stop off for a cuppa or grab a bite to eat on your way to work. The café does a selection of salads, pies, pastries, cakes, salads and tarts. There is a great range of potatoes from four bucks. These include the Caesar(Caesar salad-style potato), Raw Energy with tuna, beetroot, carrot, cheese, corn, butter or sour cream. And you cant go wrong with the classic: coleslaw, cheese, sour cream or butter. And if you are greedy like me and want both sour cream and butter the staff are happy to oblige. I am glad I got the sour cream because it is a fresh, dry coleslaw and the sour cream is placed in the middle, so you can mix it to the consistency you like. Other highlights include beef, chicken and veggie burgers, kransky dogs and hot dogs. DRINKS The staff serve a decent cup of coffee, but if you don’t feel like a coffee there are bottled soft drinks and juices in the fridge. It is not on the menu but the staff have made me a berry smoothie, which was quite nice SERVICE The staff are really nice, friendly and accommodating.
