This swanky pants underground bar makes killa cocktails and would make even the most potent bogan, look and feel utterly sophisticated. It reminds me of a episode of ab-fab! Patsy and Eddie would fit right in! It’s very Lacroix, sweetie darling!

Oh what a fun place! And yes, the clue is in the name, but it is BLUE. Yes, lots of blue. The lighting makes everything blue. Unusual. Hard to read the menus actually, but fun. The highlight of the place for me has always been the large fish tank. Yes, strange I know. Come to a late night bar and look at fish. But they are so beautiful! And colourful. The blue lighting(did I mention it’s pretty blue in here?) even adds the effect. Could be in a 1970’s house, however it kinda works. I love it. Maybe after a couple of their delicious cocktails the fish look even prettier. Love that they have some basic cheese and ham toasties. Just what one needs by the the time one ends up there! It’s cosy. It’s non-threatening. If you’re out in Rundle Street and feel nervous about heading down those stairs into the unknown abyss, don’t worry, it’s a friendly place. And it’s blue.

This is my favourite cocktail bar in adelaide so far. At the bottom of the staircase you find yourself back in the 50s with blue lighting, gigantic fish tanks and music to suit. Plenty of booths to sit in and muse over the 3 page cocktail menu. Prices are very reasonable and you know they will be well mixed. This is often our place to start the night. Mostly enjoy that you can sit, have a decent drink and still hear each other without shouting. We love it and keep coming back.

I don’t know why but Fumo always seemed kinda daggy to me… but that’s okay! Maybe it’s the massive fish tanks that feel a little out dated but who says daggy is bad?! I absolutely LOVE the delicious array of cocktails here however I can’t stand the amount of time that you have to spend waiting for them(hence the deduction of two stars) — it really does just get excessive sometimes, however polish off a drink or two and you won’t even notice the waiting time! A great place to drink and not be disrupted by too much noise or, if you please you still can dance the night away — because you definitely will want to after downing a couple drinks! The main issue here: I can’t remember which drinks to recommend as I always get a little tipsy… although I do recall the Long Island Iced Tea was decent — they also do funky Rainbow Shots which are fun for birthdays and the like!

This was a pretty trendy place. Lots of comfy booths to sit at. There is a massive cocktail list with loads of different flavours, I got an absolute ice for $ 17 which was a slushy and had a nice citrus flavour and was very refreshing. the cocktails did take quite awhile to make but they do take orders and bring them over to you. The main thing I did not like about fumo Blu is that they do not tell you what type of alcohol is in their cocktails they only tell you the flavours they are putting with it. I think this is to keep their recipes a secret but I don’t think it is responsible. You should be able to know what type of alcohol you are consuming. My friend didn’t want gin and had to convince the bartender to let her know if gin was in the drink she wanted.

Despite the lighting and the décor, everyone who has been seems to have a soft spot for Fumo Blu. The atmosphere is 50’s and very intimate and full of little booths where you can sit with friends and chat. There’s something for everyone on the three-page cocktail menu(my personal favourite is the samuel’s rhubarb pie). Would definitely recommend as a place to have a few drinks with friends, or as stop off at the beginning of a big night.

A fab place for drinks and chillaxing after dinner/dancing etc. Only painful part of this experience is the music which is way too loud for conversation. Also, it tends to make some of my friends a little sleepy with it’s general lack of lights. Great fun none the less — try a Fru Choc. they’re totes fab.

This place should be an institution! Amazing cocktail list(my Fav is the Moulin Rouge) and the service here is fast! There is table service which you barely get anywhere these days! the cheese platters after a few drinks are FANTASTIC!!! I know a few people here have said it needs a revamp but what i love about it is that it’s so classic, it has been around forever and it brings so many fond memories! I’m glad it hasn’t changed much other then the fresh paint job and stools and tables a while back now… Why fix something that’s not broken? I think this is why they seem to have so many regulars! It’s like Cheers! Where everybody knows your name :)

There aren’t enough bars like this in Adelaide. It used to be a classy cigar bar, oh if only it still was! Alas, it is not a cocktail bar, but still very classy indeed. You walk downstairs and you are introduced to a dimly blue light room with a bar and many booths and a few tables. The cocktails are fantastic. I helped myself to a few Long Island Ice Teas on arrival, boy were they strong, and you’d hope they were at around $ 20. The special for the night was the Toblerone cocktail, and I had too many to count. They were $ 12 each on special, which is a very good price. It tasted like an alcoholic chocolate Nesquik!

Walking down into this cocktail bar could easily be compared to walking down into a submarine. After walking down the steep stairs, you are greeted by an under the sea lighting scene, some fish tanks and a lot of seasickness. Although the lighting can be a little distracting, the cocktails are the main feature of this bar and those boys behind the bar certainly know how to shake one up. You may want to grab a booth area quickly so you can sit and enjoy your cocktail, plus you’ll want to research the drinks menu thoroughly anyway. There’s a cocktail to suit everyone, the Toblerone one is fantastic as is the Toffee Apple, but my favourite would have to be the classic Mojito. Stuffed full of fresh limes, mint leaves, sugar and plenty of alcohol, these babies are sure to please anyone. Prices range from around $ 15-$ 20, but they look and taste amazing so it’s a good spot for a sneaky treat with the girls.

A dimly lit cocktail bar lies in the shadows of the forever busy Rundle Street. Descending down the stairs I started grooving ever so slightly, I felt the 50’s lounge vibe with a splash of contemporary stylings. I will always recall this place as the birth of the Long Island Ice Tea for many of myself and many friends. It heralded the start of many adventures throughout the Adelaide nightlife. A wide array of cocktail selections are at the tip of your fingers. I always take a recommendation from the bartender’s and most often have an enjoyable evening. Other times have been more riotious. A word of advice to guys, the booths are particularly intimate so make sure there are some female companions. Four dudes in one booth looks curious.

Good old Blue Smoke. My girlfriends and I like to hit up Fumo’s after a nice dinner. I think that perhaps we all still love it because it houses so many fond memories, although the décor may need some updating these days and the blue lighting does make it almost like drinking in a fish tank. The cocktail list is pretty good, Fumo’s makes a wicked Toblerone and the Espresso Martini is one to try too. Going back to the lighting though, if you’ve got your legs out, avoid sitting at the bar. It has an ultra violet effect and I nearly had a heart attack. Failing that, just don’t look down! By the way, they’re never going to tell you how they make it.

What I love about Fumo Blu is that it has table service. As there aren’t many cocktail bars in Adelaide, it’s nice to have one which has that little bit extra in terms of service, compared to most places that require ordering at the counter. I love the old-school 50s décor, extensive cocktail menu, and the furniture(lots of tables!). Every time I go there I remember being 19 and ordering a Toblerone. Although this place is somewhat past its prime, I still think it’s great! Additionally, since it’s downstairs from Scoozi, why not grab a pizza before heading down for delicious cocktails.

I strongly feel as though a re vamp will do wonders to this cocktail lounge located on Rundle Street, but beggars can’t be chooses and that is how I feel about cocktail lounges here in Adelaide. There just isn’t that many around. Fumo Blu is one the few cocktail bars with sufficient seating on offer, plus the cocktails are good. With this in mind I can overlook the once modern(late nineties) décor, and recommend it for drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. The cocktail menu is immense, with what must be almost a hundred different cocktails to select from. Many of which taste really nice, and you do not need to get up to pay or order, definitely a plus.
