Emma Knights Productions specialises in music based events featuring local South Australian performers. Floating Melodies, a truly unique South Australian experience, is a South Australian Tourism Bronze Award recipient and features local food, beverages, performing artists and a cruise on the local icon the Popeye. It is like a soirée with sightseeing! Other productions include Space Encounters an Australian written children’s opera, Haydn Seek where local musicians are hidden around various South Australian locations, Tales of Adventure an improvised storytelling show for all ages (think Choose Your Own Adventure meets Neverending Story) and also features and improvised musical score, Pirates of Penzance on the Popeye — condensed to an hour with a cast on 8 on a boat — mayhem!, Lose Yourself a local singer/​songwriter concert in the Mintaro Maze and many more coming along!

History

Established in 2014.

Emma Knights Productions came about as being a musician myself, I have been told I need to leave the city I love to get work. So many talented artists do. So As well as providing accompanying services and performing services myself, the main goal of Emma Knights Productions is to create opportunities for work for local artists and to showcase them to locals and visitors. I have been performing on piano since 1984 and have worked in many schools as an accompanist. I studied at both WAAPA and the Elder Conservatorium and music direct and play in the orchestras for musical theatre shows. In 2014 I bought sets, costumes and props from Opera Queensland — after touring with them for three months, and Emma Knights Productions was born. Floating Melodies was created to raise funds for touring Space Encounters — the opera with the purchase from Opera Q. Since then I have been brainstorming new and fun ideas to incorporate music — espeically live and local music into our everyday culture.
