On the positive side, they have lots of games obviously. Staff are obnoxious, they rip you off blind if you trade in a game and were so rude to my son, I will never go again and stick to buying online where bargains galore can be had. They are obviously franchised stores so maybe some of the others are better who knows.

Great customer service from the staff at EB games as they made time to talk to my son and I about the various questions we had in regard to the games, consoles and new games coming out. They are very busy on most occasions I have been there with my son but they take the time out to help and share their knowledge and experience with us. Michael went the extra mile when I picked up the latest COD that was on hold for my son. As the game is a Christmas present — he whispered the game name and asked does he know what game he is getting and when I said yes, he spoke normally. :) He then he took a bag out the back to put the game in so my son would not see it — nice gesture and example of the staff at EB games.

Although the staff are very helpful in doing trades for store credit, I can’t get past the culture and pricing that comes with EB. I haven’t bought a game here in years. Mainly because anybody who buys video games here is being swindled. EB marks up their games 30% more than other retailers. Go to JBHIFI, Dick Smiths, or buy online. The only other high point beside the staff, are the bargain bins.

Meh, it’s OK but nothing special. I used to go to EB Games a lot when I needed to get my geek brother a present but I soon found that it was actually pretty expensive to buy them here. Another problem I had was when I was obsessed with GTA and I really needed to get San Andreas and they never ever had it in stock; do you know how irritating this was? I had a fit and never went back, there isn’t a big enough selection and if you know what you want then you don’t really need help from the staff there. You can get a bargain from the tables, I wouldn’t recommend bringing in old games as a trade in for a new one because you get ripped off. My suggestion is to sell any old games over eBay and buy the game outright, or just buy the game from eBay in the first place, so much cheaper, you may have to wait but if EB Games never has it anyway then who cares!

I’m not really a gamer. I play the occasional bit of PS3, but not very often. It’s just not for me, I can’t really get into many games. Skyrim held my interest for a week or two, but that’s the only recent game that I’ve really liked. My real reason for appreciating this place is that it keeps my hubby occupied. See, he’s a pain in my backside when it comes to shopping. If he’s following me around when I’m browsing, I’ll feel like I’m being rushed. So this place is like a child-minding centre for men, and with him here, I can get on with enjoying my retail therapy.

Why are games shops so crap and overpriced? This place is no exception, but I definitely agree with Dindo about the service. It’s crap enough that if I lived above the shop, they sold the games for a quarter of the price and with every game they gave me a voucher for a massage with a happy ending, I still wouldn’t buy stuff there even if they were the only place I could get a particular game. What this place is good for, like most EB Games places, are the bargain tables. You need to know what things are worth though, as I’ve seen stuff that looks like a bargain at $ 20, only to have a look online and find them for less than $ 10. My only real use for this place is to kill time whilst I wait for my better half to finish her shopping.

25/12/2011 Thank God for Video Game Creators. Seriously. Even as I get older, they make my life a whole lot better and my brain a whole lot sharper: I enjoy the Xbox and Ps3, but the Nintendo brand is ultimately irreplaceable. The experience of walking into EB Games, is a little bit like going on a detective hunt with Sherlock Holmes. You gotta skim through for the real bargains! The little boy inside of me comes out upon walking into a place like EB Games… remember those Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Street Fighter and Double Dragon days? Ahhh… let’s just all reminisce about those days. You don’t have to worry about missing those games, because they keep producing and bringing up 2012 versions of old-school favourites, so that you won’t ever get bored! And then the plain sight of ‘Mario Kart’ takes over my entire being, and the gallery of the latest Wii games presented with so many awesome choices just brings fire to my already excited little boy state! The only reason I didn’t give this store 5 stars was that the staff here was so unhelpful. You’d be lucky to even get a 2-second glimpse from them, because they’re so busy serving customers or stacking the games on the shelves. Oh well… really, I’m here to buy games that I’m already super-expert at, not talk to some guy with a tie, so all good. These games are not even that expensive! — at least rock-bottom $ 20 if you look hard enough or more — my fingers just want to grab my favourites but I know I’ll end up being broke. Thus, I leave wondering how the heck I’m going to afford my video games addiction. Hmmm… I can only wish before the long-awaited day comes when I earn my own Nintendo DS!
