Cibo Espresso

As much as I prefer to support smaller less established coffee shops, I have a bit of a soft spot for Cibo and I love the success story of this Adelaide gem!
There is now a Cibo in every business hub in Adelaide, each one upholding the consistent good quality that has launched Cibo from its humble beginnings into the successful chain it is today, with locations even branching interstate!
Cibo and Wifi go hand in hand as Cibo partners with another of Adelaide’s business success stories Internode to provide the best quality of free WiFi you will find in Adelaide.
Of course, any Cibo is a good Cibo, but for a quality coffee in the City’s East end, away from the hustle and bustle of central shopping district, I recommend Hutt St. Added bonus — you may run into me ;)

A perfect location to meet for coffee, albeit a little ON the beaten path, a good spot all the same. Parking is convenient, coffee comes in over sized (ashleigh-​sized) mugs which is a plus and there lots of available seating with an efficient team that gets good coffee made fast. I admit I have yet to try the food but I personally prefer fresh-​made rather than from a cabinet, so it won’t be anytime soon.

The best CIBO in town. Such great service and friendly staff. The fridges always look so welcoming… And of course they make the best coffee on Hutt st.

This Cibo. This one, gets my tick.
The staff are all gifted (or selected) with fabulous foreign accents making even the humble latte a tongue-​vibrating challenge and your hands impulsively feel the need to thrust meaningfully into the air as you speak. They are quirky and flirty and have fun with their jobs. And, they interact with the common person requesting some service like you were expected to be there — you have made their day.
With oodles of spaces to sit — inside, inside but besides an open wall, outside, really outside, upstairs, outside upstairs… and oodles of yummy things to get-​in-​your-​belly.
Another fabulous thing about this one — OPEN. LATE.
This Cibo knows how to party. They enjoy your company. No pack up starting at 8pm like many others might. Clearly not needing the extra sleep in.
I drive from the beach to this Cibo if I want a late night drink with a pal or a posse. Its just a lovely place, with a not-​so-​busy street after 8:30pm.

Doesn’t have the friendly vibe of other cibos or local cafes in Adelaide– not the best with queries either (eg asked them can they do veg focaccia like other sites do it– using chilli oil, got no joy just attitude .) also nowhere to stand but in doorways while waiting for takeaway. But apart from that the three stars are cos I live in norwood they are always busy due to location & reliable standard of food /​coffee I feel

A local Cibo is a good Cibo, especially for a sneaky gelati at 8pm at night!
Consistent quality coffee with the rest of the Cibo’s around Adelaide, quick service (as normal) and great food what makes this Cibo stand out?
1) It’s on Hutt St — great for people watching
2) It is a venue that is cosy, comfortable and relaxing all year round. Sit inside amongst exposed brick wall and hipster fit outs in winter or sit outside under the verandah in the sunshine
My only qualm is coming from a die hard Cibo gelati fan. They don’t change up their range of gelati enough, nor do they have the kind of range of flavours like Henley Beach or Glenelg. Fickle? Yes. Can I afford to be? If I’m coming here on average once a week in summer, I think yes!
That’s the only thing that looses a star for me, otherwise this place is buzzing every morning, day, night of the week and it’s obvious why.

Call me a wannabe hipster but I am not a huge coffee chain kind of guy. Which is probably a bit silly because with uniform coffee taste at least I know what I am getting. Living nearby and with pretty quick Internet this Cibo is a pretty good little spot for me to walk to and do my Unilocal reviews. Just like I am doing right now.
The place is fine if you’re not a fan of charm and like new looking things but I was recently confronted with some not so hospitable customer service. This occurred early in the morning when I was heading home. I made the assumption that of all the coffee places this would be the most likely to be open. It was around ten to seven and the chairs were out and the door was open. I sauntered in only to be sharply told by a young and abrupt girl that they were not open yet and that the door was open for the cleaning staff. I’m not normally offended easily but the tone in which she said it definitely made me think twice about coming back. Obviously though my resolve is lacking for I have come back within a week already.
I can’t tell you anything too special about the place, they have all the the drinks you will find anywhere else. The customer service was better this time around but maybe try the patisserie adjacent because they will make you a coffee and scrumptious 1000 fold croissant early in the morning. Served to you by a Frenchman with delightful customer service.

Cibo on Hutt St is one of the newest Cibo’s to open up in Adelaide. Just because there weren’t quite enough coffee shops along Hutt Street. But maybe it was needed because I do find myself drawn there weekly. I don’t know why, it may be the comfort of knowing I’ll get my regular amazing coffee or knowing I won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for a sandwich like many other places along the street.
I really like the set up of the venue. There are heaps of outdoor tables, most of them under cover so they can still be used when it is raining. Inside, the tables are situated in a room out the back so you aren’t forced to watch the hussle and bussle of caffeine addicts.
Cibo have been gradually providing a bigger range of food, so you don’t have to have the same foccaccia every time. The other day I had their eggplant parmigiana piadina. It is seriously addictive. However, the food is still quite pricey.

Cibo is the best chain of coffee shops since… well, ever.
The beans are freshly roasted, and you might think all coffee is the same, until you try Cibo’s. After the obvious choice of the beans, the most important thing about a good coffee is having someone who knows how to make it.
That’s what I love about this place, the staff know how to do a good coffee. They actually take the time to train their staff properly, and that makes all the difference.

I had no idea ths place was part of a chain, at all. Hadn’t heard the name before. All I know is that I was on Hutt st, I needed coffee, and this place happened to be the first that I came across once I realized I needed some serious caffeine.
It doesn’t have that brand over-​engineering that many chains suffer from. In fact, I didn’t realise that it was part of a chain until I started doing a review. Now, I like that. I do think that at the same time, it’s a bit of a marketing fail, but if they’re being low key by design, I’ve got a lot of respect for them.
Yes, the coffee, that’s what it’s all about, right? Well, it’s pretty damn good. None of that burnt milk, they use a good bean, and it’s just a good experience. The service is pretty good too.

The Cibo chain make the best coffee and have a atmosphere that is very friendly. Its worth the extra cost.
I would recommend the reusable cup. this supports the environment and you get a double stamp on your loyalty card.

The newest Cibo to join the brotherhood is now located on Hutt Street and thus far, this one has got to be my favourite. I feel as though the location is rather idyllic for enjoying a coffee in the CBD but still escaping the gist of society.
Also, I am going to go out on a limb here as say that it is the largest Cibo in Adelaide. Plus considering my interstate friends have never even heard of Cibo, there is a possibility that it is the largest in Australia too. Still, don’t quote me!
In terms of quality it remains on par and therefore consistent with other Cibo locations across the board. I am a fan of their coffee, chai lattes and gelatti however I do feel the need for expansion in their food department.
Summed up Cibo Hutt street contains plenty of space, a nice atmosphere and some pretty good coffee.
