Adelaide Zoo, one of Adelaide’s most iconic attractions, is home to more than 2,500 animals and 250 species of exotic and native mammals, birds, reptiles and fish exhibited over eight hectares of magnificent botanic surroundings.

Situated next to the Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Zoo is open every day of the year from 9:30am to 5:00pm and this amazing wildlife experience is only a 15 minute walk from the city. The zoo’s major exhibits include: the Bamboo Forest, home to Australia’s only Giant Pandas, Wang Wang and Funi, South East Asian Rainforest, Seal Bay, Australian Rainforest Wetlands walk-​through aviary, Nocturnal House and Reptile House.

Zoo entry includes all zookeeper talks and animal presentations. Entry costs: adults $ 31.50, child (4 – 14 years) $ 18, under four free, concession $ 22, family (2 adults, 2 – 3 children) $ 85. Strollers can be hired from the Main Entrance and wheelchairs are available for free but it is recommended to book in advance.

Adelaide Zoo is the second oldest zoo in the nation and represents a significant and important part of South Australia’s heritage and social history. Adelaide Zoo is the only major metropolitan zoo in Australia to be owned and operated by a conservation charity, Zoos South Australia, governed by a volunteer board on behalf of its members.
