La Vaca Enamorada

Super cute little spot in Puerto iguazu run by a couple, the husband takes the front of the house, the wife takes care of the magic in the kitchen. The service was warm and friendly, he went out of his way to share his passion for the food. The food itself was very good, starting with complimentary bruschetta with fresh bread which we scarfed down while perusing the menu.
Ended up ordering a couple appetizers and entrees to split:
Apps–
grape fondue– sounds strange and it was, but somehow worked… Grapes stuffed with mascarpone with blue cheese fondue. Not a huge fan of blue cheese but the flavor was subtle and added a good kick… The fondue was also great with the fresh bread on the table…
Garlic shrimp– delish! Well prepared shrimp in an awesome garlic sauce, the bread on the table was useful once again to scoop up all the left over sauce.
(yes we got extra bread for all this various sauce dipping :)
Entrees– both were huge bowls of pasta, can definitely split one between 2 ppl and walk away full…
Gnocchi — All the reviews about this place had mentioned the gnocchi so that was the first thing ordered with a fresh tomato sauce– we weren’t steered wrong… Definitely one of the best gnocchi dishes I’ve had anywhere. The dumplings were light and soft, the tomato sauce definitely demanded to be mopped up
Anglionotti– cheese pasta with mushroom sauce… The sauce was excellent with roughly chopped mushrooms and well made fresh pasta… Loved the gnocchi slightly more but this was delicious too
At this point we were way too full but after an evening of chatting with the host, he surprised us with chocolate mousse on the house — who can turn down free chocolate? It was rich and delicious, enough so that we did some damage to the dessert even on a (very) full stomach…
The food was slightly on the saltier side, but still great… Would highly recommend checking this cute little place out if you ever find yourself in Puerto iguazu…
